While visiting Prince Edward County last weekend we checked out County Cider Company. I’m not a beer drinker so cider is kind of my thing and I definitely wanted to visit this place while in PEC.

We went for lunch on the patio and enjoyed the great view of Lake Ontario and the vineyard. The variety of ciders was great and I really enjoyed their classic apple cider as well as the peach cider.

We did also check out some breweries while in PEC including 555 Brewery Co. on the main street in Picton that we enjoyed, as well as Barley Days Brewery that had a nice hibiscus beer and Parsons Brewing Company that everyone really enjoyed. They have a big selection of beers including a whole page of stouts on their tasting menu. Everyone loved the Pinot Saison, perfect for the wine region, and Grandpa Miguel’s Coffee Stout, made from beans from the owner’s grandpa’s coffee farm in Guatemala.

We also visited Honey Pie Hives & Herbals which mades mead. Actually they are only one of three mead producers in Ontario. Mead is a traditional wine made from honey and it was so different from anything I’ve ever tasted. They also sell a wide variety of honey products. We bought some great wildflower honey mead and some lavender honey.

There is so much more to see and do in Prince Edward County and I can’t wait to visit again to try more wineries and cider houses and visit more shops and artist studios.
