Berry Season

Food, Ontario, Ottawa

One of the best things about summer is all the amazing fresh and local produce and it’s even better when you get to pick it yourself. I recently discovered Rubicon Farms through Instagram and it was the perfect place to go pick blueberries. Only an hour east of Ottawa in Avonmore, Ontario this little farm was just what I was looking for. The owners were super friendly, it wasn’t busy, the berries were delicious and amazingly priced. We got about 7lbs of berries for $27! Try getting a deal like that at the farmers market. We also got some homemade blueberry lemon jam that I can’t wait to put on scones!

Outfit details: Urban Outfitters shorts, Madewell shirt & bandana, Hat Attack straw boater hat, Superga sneakers

Right down the road from Rubicon Farms is Avonmore Berry Farm where you can also pick strawberries and they have a nice little fresh produce market where we grabbed from raspberries and strawberries. If you’re making a little day trip out of it I would recommend heading a little further east to Alexandria for lunch at The Quirky Carrot.
