Snapshots from Burano

Italy, Photography, Travel

Burano is a small island in the Venetian Lagoon and one of the most colourful places in the world, it’s also one of my favourite places in the world. Historically Burano was a small fishing village and is known for it’s lace making. Today it is pretty much overrun by tourists and there are a lot of for sale signs on the houses because of the over-tourism and some people consider it to be a tourist trap. I have a very different view of the little island because I’ve never had the displeasure of visiting while it’s crazy crowded with people. I mentioned in my previous Venice travel guide when the best time to visit is, which is early in the morning before 9am or later in the afternoon when most people are leaving. There is also a lovely hotel on the island, Casa Burano that is owned by the near by Venissa wine hotel on Mazzorbo island which is connected to Burnao by a bridge. If ever I have the chance to return to Burano I definitely want to spend an evening at one of the hotels. But until that time here are some of my favourite photographs from my time spent in Burano.
