Frida Kahlo at the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec & Covid-19

Art, Canada, Québec, Québec City, Travel

On our way home from a little weekend trip to northern Québec we decide to take a little detour to pass through Québec City to see the exhibition Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera and Mexican Modernism: The Jacques and Natasha Gelman Collection at the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec. I had hoped to write a little review of this exhibition but instead I’m going to share my experience of visiting a blockbuster exhibition in the time of Covid-19.

Snapshots from Québec City

Canada, Québec, Québec City, Travel

On our way home from a weekend in northern Québec we detoured to historic Québec City for a couple hours to wander the old city. Suffice to say, 3 hours is not enough time and we’ll be back soon to see more of this beautiful place. Until then, there are some snapshots for around beautiful Vieux-Québec.

A Day Trip to Prince Edward County

Canada, Ontario, Prince Edward County, Travel

With summer travel options being pretty limited in the time of Covid-19 we decided to do a little day trip to Prince Edward County to catch the lavender bloom in July. PEC is one of our favourite places to visit and although we already have a weekend booked for September we just couldn’t wait until then to return.

Ravenna, Italy Mini Travel Guide

Italy, Travel

Ravenna is a relatively small city in Northern Italy but it has a lot of history! I visited Ravenna back in 2014 when I was studying art history in Venice. Ravenna is home to important late Roman and Byzantine architecture and eight UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Ravenna is home to some of the most amazing mosaics in Europe and is definitely an under visited city! If you’re visiting the area and wondering what there is to do, here is little guide for you!

Casa Gilardi, Mexico City

Mexico, Photography, Travel

Casa Gilardi is the last private home designed by renowned Mexican architect Luis Barragán in Mexico City. The house was built between 1975-1978 and is still owned by the original family who commissioned Barragán to build it. During our trip to Mexico City in March we visited this special house.

A Mediterranean Lunch at Lardo, Mexico City

Food, Mexico, Reviews, Travel

Lardo in Mexico City’s Condesa neighbourhood was one place I knew I wanted to try during our visit in March. Everything on their Mediterranean inspired menu was delicious! Lardo is part of the same restaurant group as Rosetta (you can even get their pastries at the side to-go window) and after dinning there I knew Lardo was going to be just as good!

Dinning at Rosetta, Mexico City

Food, Mexico, Reviews, Travel

Rosetta is one of those beautiful restaurants you see all the time on Instagram. The interior is bight and dreamy, filled with plants. But is the food any good? Well we went to Rosetta in Mexico City’s Roma Norte neighbourhood during our trip in March and had a delicious time! Rosetta is a modern Italian restaurant with a modern Mexican twist. All the dishes use so many fresh ingredients.

Brunch at Masala y Maíz, Mexico City

Food, Mexico, Reviews, Travel

Masala y Maíz in Mexico City’s Juarez neighbourhood was the perfect brunch spot when we visited back in March. Our hotel included breakfast but I wanted to try one of Mexico City’s amazing brunch places while we were there. Masala y Maíz explores the culinary traditions of South Asian, East African and Mexico.

A Meal to Remember: Pujol, Mexico City

Food, Mexico, Reviews, Travel

Pujol by Chef Enrique Olvera in Mexico City is one of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants and as of 2019 it currently sits at #12. Mexico doesn’t have a Michelin Guide but I think it’s safe to assume that if it did Pujol would have at least one star if not more. On our trip to Mexico City in March we were lucky enough to dine there and truly had an amazing and memorable experience.

Colours of Mexico City
