Tips for Visiting Prince Edward County

Canada, Ontario, Prince Edward County, Travel

Prince Edward County has quickly become one of my favourite and most visited travel spots. Over the last four years I’ve visited this little picturesque wine region six times. I’ve been in summer, fall, holiday weekends, with a group, as a couple, with dogs, stayed in Airbnbs, B&Bs, and visited a good chunk of the wineries here. I wouldn’t call myself an expert and I definitely don’t have the same amount of knowledge that a local would but I’ve learned a lot about how to visit PEC and what to expect. So here are my top tips for visiting and making your vacation hopefully a little easier.

Île d’Orléans Mini Travel Guide

Canada, Québec, Québec City & Île d'Orléans, Travel

Île d’Orléans is a small island just outside of Québec City known for its amazing produce and rich francophone history. All over the island you’ll find little villages and big farms growing some of the best strawberries and blackcurrants in the summer and apples in the autumn. Although not very big there are many great places to discover and it’s an easy day trip only 30 minutes Québec City.

Bas-Saint-Laurent Road Trip

Bas-Saint-Laurent, Canada, Québec, Travel

After visiting Québec City a few times in the last several years we decided to go a bit further on our little summer road trip and drive up through the Bas-Saint-Laurent region of Québec. We took the day and drove from Québec City to Grand-Métis where we visited the Jardins du Métis the next day. We made many stops along to way to eat, explore and hike. We really only scratched the surface on what there is to do in this region since we only had the day but here is our road trip through the Bas-Saint-Laurent.

A Day in Prince Edward County

Canada, Ontario, Prince Edward County, Travel

If you’ve visited this blog before you’ll know that I love Prince Edward County, it’s the perfect country escape in Ontario with wineries, breweries and good food galore! Although we have plans to visit at the end of September with family we couldn’t resist doing a little day trip in PEC. We told ourselves it was to scout places to visit with our family but that was really just a lame excuse. On this trip we did make a point of visiting some new places, or at least new to us. So come along for a little review of our day in PEC. I’ll also be updating my full PEC Travel Guide and my PEC Winery Guide in September after our next visit.

Prince Edward County Winery Guide – 2021 Update

Canada, Ontario, Prince Edward County, Travel

Prince Edward County has now become an annual trip with so much to do and so many lovely places to visit. The region has really exploded in the last 5 years and now there is just so much to do. One of the big draws is all the wineries, there are now over 40! Between my four trip I’ve visited a good number of wineries and vineyards. This guide has my favourites, some other solid places, ones we won’t be back to and ones I hope to go to on my next visit. I’ve also thrown in a cider house, distillery and brewery that are too good to miss. Be sure to check out my complete PEC travel guide too!

Weekend Getaway to Prince Edward County

Canada, Ontario, Prince Edward County, Travel

Back in the fall we visited beautiful Prince Edward County. It’s one of our favourite places to travel and it was the perfect little getaway during the pandemic where we could easily spend time outdoors and distanced from people. This was our fourth time in PEC (you can see my other posts here!). You can also read my PEC Travel Guide and Winery Guide updated for 2021 with full details on the best places to visit. But here’s a rundown of our lovely weekend in Prince Edward County (better late than never!)

Mexico City Travel Guide

Mexico, Photography, Travel

In March I visited Mexico for the first time to eat all the food and see all the art. I’m not a beach/resort person so we visited Mexico City. It was an amazing experience exploring this massive, crazy city. There are so many district areas/neighbourhoods to explore and in 5 days we saw so much of the city and ate so much amazing food.

A Mediterranean Lunch at Lardo, Mexico City

Food, Mexico, Reviews, Travel

Lardo in Mexico City’s Condesa neighbourhood was one place I knew I wanted to try during our visit in March. Everything on their Mediterranean inspired menu was delicious! Lardo is part of the same restaurant group as Rosetta (you can even get their pastries at the side to-go window) and after dinning there I knew Lardo was going to be just as good!

Dining at Rosetta, Mexico City

Food, Mexico, Reviews, Travel

Rosetta is one of those beautiful restaurants you see all the time on Instagram. The interior is bight and dreamy, filled with plants. But is the food any good? Well we went to Rosetta in Mexico City’s Roma Norte neighbourhood during our trip in March and had a delicious time! Rosetta is a modern Italian restaurant with a modern Mexican twist. All the dishes use so many fresh ingredients.

Brunch at Masala y Maíz, Mexico City

Food, Mexico, Reviews, Travel

Masala y Maíz in Mexico City’s Juarez neighbourhood was the perfect brunch spot when we visited back in March. Our hotel included breakfast but I wanted to try one of Mexico City’s amazing brunch places while we were there. Masala y Maíz explores the culinary traditions of South Asian, East African and Mexico.
