Prince Edward County is one of Canada’s best (and littlest) wine regions with so much to offer, and only 3 hours from Ottawa. We’ve visited the County 4 times and there is still so much to explore in this great area. Now that I’ve had the chance to try more wineries and breweries, some great restaurants, do some shopping and spend some time just exploring the region I’m ready to share my favourite spots in PEC! Lardo in Mexico City’s Condesa neighbourhood was one place I knew I wanted to try during our visit in March. Everything on their Mediterranean inspired menu was delicious! Lardo is part of the same restaurant group as Rosetta (you can even get their pastries at the side to-go window) and after dinning there I knew Lardo was going to be just as good!
Rosetta is one of those beautiful restaurants you see all the time on Instagram. The interior is bight and dreamy, filled with plants. But is the food any good? Well we went to Rosetta in Mexico City’s Roma Norte neighbourhood during our trip in March and had a delicious time! Rosetta is a modern Italian restaurant with a modern Mexican twist. All the dishes use so many fresh ingredients.
Masala y Maíz in Mexico City’s Juarez neighbourhood was the perfect brunch spot when we visited back in March. Our hotel included breakfast but I wanted to try one of Mexico City’s amazing brunch places while we were there. Masala y Maíz explores the culinary traditions of South Asian, East African and Mexico.
Pujol by Chef Enrique Olvera in Mexico City is one of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants and as of 2019 it currently sits at #12. Mexico doesn’t have a Michelin Guide but I think it’s safe to assume that if it did Pujol would have at least one star if not more. On our trip to Mexico City in March we were lucky enough to dine there and truly had an amazing and memorable experience.
Alice is a newly opened vegan restaurant in Ottawa’s Little Italy neighbourhood. This is just one of the most recent new openings in the area that’s making Little Italy the new foodie neighbourhood of Ottawa. Alice does an eight course blind tasting menu that changes seasonally. We visited a few weeks after they opened to try the inaugural menu.

Ottawa’s newest pizza joint Farinella is an instant favourite and perfect for summer. Occupying an industrial space in Little Italy on Rochester St., Farinella is just one of the many new additions this year making it Ottawa’s up and coming foodie neighbourhood.
El Camino is one of my go-to restaurant in Ottawa and they probably make the best damn tacos in the city. You really can’t go wrong here. Most tacos are a bit pricey but at El Camino I feel like it’s totally worth it since you actually get a lot of food and it’s of course delicious.
Gongfu Bao is one of my favourite little bites in Ottawa and if you haven’t been you really should. Gongfu Bao started as a food truck but recently opened up a restaurant on Bank St. in downtown Ottawa. I’ve been a few times now and it’s always great. The bao steam buns are delicious with great flavours.
