Saguaro Sunset

Photography, Shop, Travel, United States

Well it’s winter and we’ve probably got at least another month and a half of snowy, cold weather here in Ottawa so I thought I’d look back on some of my travel photos from somewhere warm. While setting up my new photography shop on Darkroom I came across all my saguaro cactus photographs from a sunset hike in Arizona. So to launch my new Darkroom photography shop and to imagine I’m somewhere warm I’m sharing the photos here that you can now buy prints of! Please enjoy!

Hiking the Grand Canyon

Photography, Travel, United States

Hiking the Grand Canyon has been one of the highlights of my year and it’s truly an experience I will never forgot. I agreed to go with my mom on a hiking trip to Grand Canyon National Park on a whim. I didn’t have any hiking experience and I knew it would be tough and I’d have to do a lot of training. Considering my complete lack of hiking experience I’d say I did pretty well on the trails. Although it was hard I still had an amazing time and I managed to make it to the bottom of the Canyon and back up in one piece. I’ve already written a little Grand Canyon travel guide that talks a bit about visiting the National Park in general but this post will focus specifically on the hiking trails and Phantom Ranch at the bottom of the Canyon. Although it’s really just an excuse for me to share some photos.

Grand Canyon Travel Guide

Visiting Grand Canyon National Park was truly incredible and it’s an experience that I’ll remember for the rest of my life. It was like nothing else I had ever seen or experienced. If you’ve read any of my other Arizona travel guides then you know that my primary reason for visiting the state was to hike the Grand Canyon. I’m going to get into the specifics of the hike in another post and for this little Grand Canyon guide I’m going to focus on the South Rim area at the top of the Grand Canyon.

Sedona, Arizona Hiking Guide

Photography, Travel, United States

Back in April 2018 I went on a little hiking trip to Arizona, well kind of a big one in the Grand Canyon. But on our way from Phoenix to the Grand Canyon we stopped in Sedona for a few days to do some hiking and get acclimatized to the dry air, heat and altitude in Arizona. Coming from winter in Canada it was a bit of an adjustment. The landscape around Sedona was beautiful, the actual town I feel was too touristy though. With so many hiking trails in the area it can be hard to decide which ones to do so I’ll share some info about the ones we did.

Phoenix, Arizona Mini Travel Guide

In April of this year I visited Arizona to hike the Grand Canyon. We ended up flying into Phoenix and then drove up to the Grand Canyon but before heading up to Northern Arizona for our hike we spent a couple days visiting Phoenix. This isn’t really a complete travel guide as it doesn’t include any food but it’s a pretty good list of things to do while in Phoenix.

Antelope Canyon is one of the places that you see online and through social media and say “wouldn’t it be cool to go there one day!” Well I actually got to and it was amazing!
